Spring School Holiday Adventures at The Farm Byron Bay
Spring is one of the most exciting times to explore a working farm, and Farm Kids is back at The Farm Byron Bay for the Spring 2026 school holidays with eight hands-on workshops and Mini Farmers experiences.
At the beginning of every Farm Kids session, children head out on an educational and fun tour of The Farm. Along the way they’ll meet cows, goats, chickens, sheep and bees and explore the flower crops, herb garden, orchard and veggie gardens.
Through real farm experiences, children discover how regenerative farming works and explore ideas including pollination, healthy soils, composting, seasonal growing and ethical farming practices. When available, there are also opportunities to taste fresh herbs, edible flowers and seasonal produce straight from the garden.
Then it’s time to dive into the day’s theme.
Thursday 24 September | 9.30am–12.30pm
Workshop – Sunshine & Sunbeams!
Celebrate the arrival of spring and discover why sunshine is one of nature’s greatest gifts. Children will explore how sunlight helps plants grow, supports wildlife and provides energy for the farm.
Activities include making a natural zinc sunscreen, painting a vibrant sunshine-inspired artwork and heading outdoors to investigate the relationship between sunlight and life.

Mini Farmers – Buzz & Bloom!
Step into the fascinating world of bees and discover why these tiny pollinators are some of the hardest-working creatures on the farm.
Children will explore how bees help grow our food, why flowering plants depend on pollinators and ways we can create bee-friendly gardens at home. They’ll roll a pure beeswax candle, build a bee watering station to take home and enjoy a calming herbal tea ceremony with local honey.

Workshop – Nature Makers!
Slow down, explore and create using some of nature’s own treasures.
Children will discover native seed pods, fragrant herbs and edible plants while learning about the diversity growing around us. They’ll paint native seed pods, make fragrant herb wands to dry at home and take a guided nature walk to discover edible weeds and Australian bush foods.

Mini Farmers – Feather & Nest!
Discover the wonderful world of chickens and eggs while learning how pasture-raised hens fit into a regenerative farm.
Children will explore the life cycle of an egg, learn how chicks develop and spend time with our feathered farm friends. Activities include making eggshell beeswax candles, cooking delicious pikelets with fresh farm eggs and candling eggs to discover what’s happening inside before they hatch.

Mini Farmers – Hooves & Hearts!
Spend the day getting to know some of The Farm’s friendliest residents – the goats!
Children will learn about goat care, what goats eat, why they’re such excellent browsers and the different products goats provide. They’ll decorate fresh muffins with homemade goat’s cheese icing, design their dream goat paddock and enjoy feeding and patting the goats.
Wednesday 7 October | 9.30am–12.30pm
Workshop – Lavender & Calm!
A gentler morning of creativity, fragrance and nature as children explore the lavender garden and discover the many ways this beautiful herb has traditionally been used.
Children will blend their own lavender bath salts, sew a fragrant lavender pillow to take home and wander through the garden learning more about this much-loved plant.

Mini Farmers – Flower Power!
Spring is bursting into bloom!
Children will explore flowering plants and discover why flowers are so important for bees, butterflies and healthy gardens. They’ll learn how flowers become seeds and help create colourful spaces for future Farm visitors to enjoy.
Activities include making a flower crown, designing a beautiful fresh posy to take home and planting a colourful flower row in the farm garden.
Friday 9 October | 9am–3pm
Mini Farmers – Woolly Wonders!
Meet the sheep and follow the fascinating journey from fleece to fibre.
Children will learn how wool is grown, harvested and transformed into clothing while spending time with the flock. They’ll make an adorable sheep pom-pom, experiment with simple weaving using natural wool and feed and pat the sheep while discovering why wool is such a remarkable natural fibre.
A School Holiday Experience That’s More Than Just an Activity
Farm Kids gives children the opportunity to experience real farm life at The Farm Byron Bay rather than simply learning about it from a classroom.
Across the Spring School Holidays they’ll cook, plant, make, taste, investigate, meet animals and explore the gardens, building an understanding of where food comes from and how plants, animals, insects, soil and people are all connected.
The workshops are suitable for children aged 5 and over.
